The Best FUN activities to jumpstart a no spend month

A no-spend month doesn’t mean you must stay in your home doing nothing. You can still have FUN with no or low cost activities. We will talk about the best fun activities we have done in our no spend month.

Setting yourself a financial challenge can be rewarding. It’s a good way to get your financial house in order, test your saving willpower, and open your eyes and mind to what really matters to you.

Mindset

You are committed to having a no spend/low spend month.  I am right there with you!

I normally do my no spend month(s) in January and February mostly because we are coming off the holiday and it is cold outside.  I find that this is a great time to set new financial goals, clean up paperwork, get new spreadsheets or checklist created.

When I first start this challenge a few years ago it took a little convincing for my family to get onboard, but truth be told I had to convince myself as well that it will be easy, quick, and fun!

Our Journey

So, we started off great we lowered our food budget, reduced water and electric use, and stayed home or local to save on gas.  Towards the middle we started to slip a little with a longer shower or five, a few extra snacks, etc.  However, we refocused quickly and got back on track for the rest of the month.  This was a few years ago and we have gotten better each year and now added an additional month! We noticed that we really didn’t miss out on anything big be scaling back on things and connected more with each other and our community.

Final Thoughts

At the end of your month look back and see what you have accomplished and saved.  Saving money for the future isn’t just about retirement. The financial decisions you make today will impact you in the short and long term. The no spend month will probably help you and your family to realize how much stuff you have that you don’t need or even use, and maybe get you to thinking about doing with less and being more creative, on an ongoing basis.

Getting the right mindset is important and knowing your WHY you are doing this will set you up for success.

A no spend month challenge will get you results in just 30 days. Imagine if the amount you saved during that time allows you to cut the debt on your credit card bill in half. Also, what personal time did you find that added to your life.

So come join in the no spend month challenge and see your RESULTS.
