Best Frugal Living Strategies To Save You Money

Do you like living a simple life? Here are my best frugal living strategies that will save you money!

I have used alot of these tips throughout my life and never felt deprived.

Creating the right mindset for anything you do will give you the best results.

I love sharing these tips with friends to help them improve their lives and still have FUN!

Have you felt the pain of inflation- Of course you have! In fact, you can see that the overall cost of living has increased significantly over the past couple of years.

So if you’re looking to cut back daily costs and want to learn how to live frugally, then you’ve come to the right place.

Let’s get started on Frugal Living Strategies:

1. Don’t ignore routine maintenance

When money is tight, there is a tendency to stop all spending that isn’t absolutely necessary.  That’s not bad in and of itself. But don’t neglect routine maintenance on things like your car or A/C unit.  Failing to maintain these things may save money in the short run but will lead to spending more in the long run with the increased risk of breakdown and the need for repair.

 2. Learn to do without

The hardest thing to do is to say, “No” to buying something that you really want.  If you’ve prioritized your purchases and have the things that you need, then learning to do without will help you get financially ahead, especially in hard times.

3. Be content with what you have

An old Amish proverb says something to the effect of, “Every man is rich until he wants what he doesn’t have.”  Learning to be content with what you have is a secret to smart money management. Not only will developing contentment lead to improved finances but it will also likely lead to a more fulfilling life.

4. Buy quality when you can

Sometimes you have to buy an item to fit the need and budget you have right now.  If you can, think about the long-term rather than the immediate need.  Spending a little more out of pocket now and buying quality could mean saving money overall.

5. Find free or cheap entertainment

You don’t have to spend next month’s rent to get quality entertainment.  In fact, you don’t even have to buy a movie ticket.  There are plenty of free and cheap ways to keep the whole family entertained.  Break out the board games, go outside for a game of catch, or check out a DVD from your local library.

6. Bake in batches

Save money on food by being intentional with your time and resources! Set aside one day or a half a day for meal prepping.  Baking in batches is an effective frugal living tip from the Great Depression era that is still a time and money-saving hack today! Baking Sheets

7. Save your grease

Saving your bacon grease and other drippings is an invaluable cooking tip from the Great Depression era. First off, you can use it to keep your cast iron skillets seasoned.  In addition, you can use it to add a punch of flavor to soups, stews, roasts, beans, and more.

8. Buy classic clothing

An important money saving tip is to avoid fashion fads. Trying to keep up with the latest trends is very expensive.  Rather than buying the latest and greatest in fashion, opt for classic tops, bottoms, and dresses that can be mixed and matched in various ways and can be worn for years without looking dated.

9. Line dry clothing

Line drying your clothes is an old-fashioned method with a few great benefits.  First, you don’t run the electric dryer which saves money on utilities.  Second, line drying will extend the life of your garments! At the very least, check with your electric company to see if there is a monetary advantage to running your dryer at off-peak times. Don’t forget the clothes pins!

10. Make Your Own Cleaning Products

Many homemade cleaners work just as well as store–bought but cost a fraction. Diluting white vinegar in a spray bottle is a healthy produce wash and general cleaner.

11. Purchase Reusable Products

Why waste your money on an item you’re going to throw away? Instead, invest in cloth napkins for mealtime and washable rags for cleaning tasks around the house.

12. Shop Second-Hand

A good way to become extremely thrifty is to start shopping at thrift stores, garage sales and estate sales. You can score practically new items for a fraction of the price you would pay in the store.

The ideas sound quite hardcore. I like it. Most people would be selective in their frugal pursuits. Personally, I’ve been cutting my own hair recently.

A motivating discussion is worth comment. I do believe that you should write more on this subject matter, it might not be a taboo subject but generally people do not talk about these subjects. To the next! Best wishes!!
